Recommendations for Dolphin and Whale Books

Dolphin Connection: Interdimensional Ways of Living. Joan Ocean. 1989. Self-published.

This is one of the first dolphin consciousness books written by one of the first people to offer
dolphin swim experiences.  Very metaphysically oriented, but an interesting read.

Dolphins, Myths, & Transformation. Ryan DeMares Ph.D. 2003. The Dolphin Institute Press,
Boulder, CO.

Ryan refers to herself as the first person to hold a doctorate in interspecies communication.
She approaches this book from a practical perspective on metaphysical phenomena, namely the
transformational effects of the dolphin-human relationship.  Lots of good, solid scientific
information as well as an open exploration, with personal stories, of how people have been
affected by their relationships with dolphins.

Souls in the Sea: Dolphins, Whales, and Human Destiny. Scott Taylor. Frog, Ltd., Berkeley, CA.

Scott is a personal friend and dolphinbrother who has written a beautiful, comprehensive
narrative of the history between cetaceans and humans over the ages.  He believes, as do I,
that cetaceans have been shaping the picture of humankind over eons, and gives the "evidence"
to prove it, from his perspective.  He is also a carrier of the Legend of the Golden Dolphin,
which originated in Australia and founder of the Cetacean Studies Institute, so he includes lots
of juicy facts about cetaceans, covers the controversial subject of dolphin captivity, and asks us
to consider cetaceans as a sovereign "nation" worthy of our respect and honor for their wisdom.
