2010 DOLPHIN SWIMS in BIMINI, THE BAHAMAS
I am once again facilitating conscious, sacred journey dolphin swims,
beginning this summer. These swims are for those who want to be
guided by someone who is deeply committed and experienced, has been
called by the cetaceans to do this work, and who has cultivated a
spiritual life and practice that makes all the difference when guiding a
powerfully transformative experience.
Swim dates are as follows:
August 15-21 - this is a live-aboard trip, meaning we will live on the
boat for the week. I love doing trips this way - we anchor off the island
in calm waters, lay out on the deck at night, are gently rocked to sleep,
and then wake up on the water to have our coffee or tea on deck.
I can take 7 people, and there are 3 openings left on this trip. I'm going
to be doing this trip differently than I have in the past. It is my wish to
raise the bar on how we go to these free dolphins, especially with what's
going on in the Gulf with the oil spill. This means that we meet them
not from our need but from our strength, not from our confusion, but
from our deep place of knowing, and our commitment to being as
conscious as possible in our lives.
I want to go down in the spirit of their waters being sacred ground and
we are coming as equal, conscious beings to them in the spirit of
communion. Along with that my intention is for the group to co-create
the weeks experiences, each bringing their own gifts, participating in the
ways and rhythms that are right for them. That also means we will plan
the menu and cook our meals communally (I will buy the food and
provision the boat), decide how we want each day to unfold, be
responsible for taking care of our own needs yet being there to support
one another, as well as letting ourselves be supported. We will spend
some part of each day in various forms of meditation, we'll share our
gifts - anyone do yoga, bodywork, energy work? - if that feels right to
you, I'll bring some of my singing bowls and tuning forks, we'll have lots
of play time and just be open to what the week brings us.. We'll also
have beach time, snorkel some of the small reefs and the Atlantis Road,
and of course spend a lot of time on the dolphin grounds.
All that means that I will take less of a "salary" for myself, and without
having to pay a chef I can offer the trip for around $1450.
August 24-30 - this is a land-based trip that is being created by Karen
DeHaven, a wonderful Integrative Therapist, around her 40th birthday.
She is welcoming all like-minded spirits from within her community, and
without, to join her/us in this special dolphin swim experience.
We will be staying at a fabulous condo right on the water in South
Bimini, with an amazing chef who runs a CSA with her husband and
cooks whole and healthy foods with care for special dietary needs. We
will go out to the dolphins from afternoon into evening, when they are
most available. This trip will be very eclectic - with yoga, music, maybe
dance or movement, and free time to explore the island as well.
Cost: For a full group of 10 people - $1400
For a group of 9 people - $1555
For a group of 8 people - $1750
A Note About Swimming with the Dolphins - We are always in
about 20-30 feet of water when we are with the dolphins - we are not in
open ocean with thousands of feet below us! You can always see the
bottom, and the island, when we are out, so it's not so scary for those
unsure of themselves in open water.
What's included: Everything except airfare and ground
transportation, Bahamian departure tax of $15.00, and crew gratuity.
Boat: We will be on a lovely catamaran, the Aventura, with our
wonderful captain Levente whom I've worked with before. Check out
the boat at www.bareboatmiami.com.
Travel info: You will fly into Miami, and we will be crossing over on
the boat, which will save an expensive ticket for a short flight to Bimini.
First and last days are travel days. You need to have a passport to get
into the Bahamas now.
About Bimini: Bimini is actually 2 very small islands - North and South
Bimini. North Bimini is 7 miles long and 700 yards wide! These islands
are said to be the center of the Atlantean civilization by many seers.
Whether it is or isn’t might never be proven, but I do know that this
place has a very special energy to it. The water is very clear, smooth,
and full of soft healing energy – almost like swimming in silk. The
islands have a gentle, feminine essence to them with some points clearly
holding a very high vibration.
Bimini is also very poor. The native Bahamians are very friendly, but
there is a third world feel to many parts of the island, except where a
large resort was recently completed on the north part of North Bimini.
There is essentially no business on the islands except for a scuba diving
business, a few places of lodging, some restaurants, and some tiny local
markets. Ernest Hemingway did live there for a time, and his house
was a popular bar where we would go dancing. Sadly, it burned down
several years ago.
Many people come for scuba diving and game fishing, and for a short
vacation away from the mainland as it is only 48 miles from Miami.
Registration: I need a $500 deposit to hold your space, balance to be
paid in full 30 days prior to departure. A confirmation letter with all the
information you need to prepare for the trip will be sent upon receipt of
your deposit.
Check or Paypal accepted.
